J. DONALD THOMAS HONOREE
PASADENA CHILD HEALTH FOUNDATION
The Pasadena Child Health Foundation (PCHF) believes that all children should be healthy and able to develop to their full potential. In support of that, PCHF provides funding to reduce disparities that adversely impact the health of children residing in the Pasadena Unified School District attendance area. PCHF invests in prevention and early intervention strategies and activities that incorporate the principles of collaboration, leveraging existing resources and expanding capabilities to improve the health and well-being of Pasadena area children.
The foundation was established in 1951 as a private foundation with the purpose of supporting projects pertaining to the health and welfare of children.
As the Foundation focused its attention on children’s health issues, it attracted additional donations and increased its assets. Over its history, PCHF has made grants to support children’s health to a wide range of organizations. Young & Healthy has been the grateful recipient of over 2.4 million dollars, allowing us to provide healthcare to thousands of children in need.
ALLIANCE HONOREE
ALLISON REED DIETRICK
This year, we honor Allison Reed Dietrick with the 2020 Young & Healthy Alliance Award. Allison is a committed volunteer and longtime-friend (15 years and counting!) of Young & Healthy. Over the years, she has served on the Board, Development Committee and multiple Gala Committees. In 2015, she founded the Young & Healthy Alliance, a multi-generational support network designed to provide awareness of and avenues for engagement with Young & Healthy's mission to the community. The Young & Healthy Alliance was the first local auxiliary to launch a Kids' Alliance, which introduced Pasadena's next generation of volunteers to the satisfaction of serving the community. Allison chaired the Alliance until 2019, when she turned her attention to co-chairing Young & Healthy's wildly successful 30th Birthday Celebration last October.
Born and raised in Pasadena, Allison returned to the area after earning degrees from UC Berkeley and Harvard Law School. She and her husband, Todd, also a Pasadena native, strongly believe that access to quality medical care for local kids is an investment in the future of our community, and have made their commitment to Young & Healthy a family affair. Todd, an orthopedic surgeon, has provided volunteer medical services to Young & Healthy's clients since 2005. Their children, daughter Reed, 13, and son Lars, 10, are active members of the Young & Healthy Kids' Alliance and particularly enjoy assisting with Young & Healthy's Mobile Dental Clinic each February.
